ABOUT
Kieran Matz has a certificate in Band Instrument Repair from Renton Technical College and has a Bachelor of Arts in Ethnomusicology at the University of Washington, where he studied under oboist Mary Lynch VanderKolk. Kieran previously studied under Dan Williams and Yuh-Pey Lin. Kieran has recently performed as a featured soloist with the Rain City Symphony, and was the first prize winner at the Washington State Solo and Ensemble Competition (2018) and the Bellevue Youth Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition (2017). He has participated in masterclasses given by Anne Marie Gabriel, Nancy Ambrose King, and Russ DeLuna. Kieran regularly performs with musical groups on both sides of the Cascades in Washington, and has appeared in guest performances with the Yakima Symphony, Walla Walla Symphony, Lake Washington Symphony Orchestra, the Bellingham Chamber Chorale, Bainbridge Symphony, and Ballard Civic Orchestra. A 2018 graduate of Sammamish High School in Bellevue, he ran the Bellevue Youth Symphony Orchestra Summer camps for 7 years. Kieran currently works as a woodwind and brass technician for The Mighty Quinn Brass and Winds in Redmond.
